Erik M. Skates, DMD 

Dr. Skates was raised in Fort Myers, and his family has been in the Southwest Florida area for many generations. After graduating from Fort Myers High School, he studied building construction at the University of Florida. Being disappointed with the construction industry, he decided to pursue a career he was more passionate about. Dentistry was a good fit because of his natural empathy and desire to take a hands-on approach to solving problems. 

After making his decision to become a dentist, he received his training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He was more than glad to leave the snow behind and return to his hometown. When not helping his patients with their dental needs, Dr. Skates enjoys traveling, playing music, and spending time with his family and friends. 

"My favorite part of being a dentist is having the opportunity to meet and help so many people. The satisfaction I get from being able to help patients overcome their fear of the dentist and restoring their smiles makes me realize that I have chosen the right path." Having graduated in 2017, Dr. Skates brings to the office years of experience and shares our practice philosophy of caring for patients and delivering excellent care.

Dr. Skates is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast District Dental Association, the Lee County Dental Society, and the Seattle Study Club. He also volunteers at Project Dentists Care, helping the underserved population.
